The latest release candidate 3 of the upcoming IFC4 standard is now available.
It can be accessed and downloaded from the official buildingSMART International
specification website, at:

This release candidate marks an end of a long and intensive quality improvement work led by the
Model Support Group of buildingSMART International http://buildingsmart-tech.org/about-us/msg
focusing on compatibility, better documentation quality and on final specification enhancements.

The release candidate 3 of IFC4 (internal release name IFC2x4RC3) will be the basis of
submitting the Draft International Standard ISO/DIS16739 to ISO for balloting. It is
expected that the balloting will start in November and end in early summer 2012.

Further documentation enhancements and improvements of the property and quantity
definitions are planned before the IFC4 final release will be published (earliest by late
Summer 2012], also depending on the progress of achieving the full International Standard
status for ISO16739.

I would like to encourage the whole buildingSMART community to participate in this last
public review cycle before IFC4 final release and to submit any issues and recommendations for
improvement using the IFC2x4 Review Issue database at http://buildingsmart-tech.org/jira/browse/IFR.
The review period is scheduled to end on 31. March 2012.

Please feel free to further circulate this announcement,

kind regards
Thomas Liebich
